ESCANABA - An Escanaba man was ordered today to spend up to 50 years in prison for convictions of child abuse and criminal sexual conduct against an Escanaba teen.

Carl James Pellinen, 47, was sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court to 17.5 years to 50 years on one count of criminal sexual conduct and 25 years to 50 years on one count of first-degree child abuse for abusing his girlfriend's son. The sentencings are concurrent.

Last week, Pellinen's girlfriend, co-defendant Susan Marie Bardo, was sentenced to two concurrent rulings of 20 years to 50 years in prison on one count of torture and one count of first-degree child abuse in connection with the abuse of her 15-year-old son since 2007.
