ESCANABA - A 46-year-old Escanaba woman was sentenced this morning to spend up to 50 years in prison for torturing and abusing her son since 2007.

Delta County Circuit Court Judge Stephen Davis ruled Susan Marie Bardo spend two concurrent sentences of 20-50 years in prison for torture and first-degree child abuse of her 15-year-old son.

Because of the serious psychological injuries to the victim, Davis stated he ruled above and beyond the sentencing guidelines recommendation of 17.5 years in prison.

Bardo's boyfriend, co-defendant Carl James Pellinen, 47, is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in circuit court for first-degree child abuse and first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the child.
