GLADSTONE - James P. Cole, 67, of 612 Montana Ave., Gladstone, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 2, 2013, at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
James was born Oct. 9, 1945, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Paul and Irene (Baribeau) Cole.
He was raised in Gladstone and graduated in 1963 from Gladstone High School. James worked for Local 506 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters until his retirement in 1999.

James was a member of the Gladstone Yacht Club and the Sons of the American Legion. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and golfing at the Lake Bluff Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, the former Kathryn Meyer, who he was united in marriage to on July 25, 1992, in Stonington, survivors also include: daughters, Patti (Ryan) Stevenson of Gladstone, Ann Marie (Scott) Sliva of Lower Michigan; son, Matthew Papas of North Carolina; brothers, Paul (Sue) Cole of Gladstone and Tom (Vicki) Cole of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Mary Soper of Cornell; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Ann Marie Cole and brother-in-law, Robert Soper, preceded James in death.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion Hall in Gladstone.
