ONTONAGON - A teenager from Wisconsin is facing assault charges following an alleged incident in Ontonagon County earlier this month.
According to a press release from the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office, on July 23, deputies received a report of a wire across the ORV trail near the Firesteel bridges.
The Sheriff's Office said a male subject was struck in the throat while riding his ORV on the trail.
Later that day a deputy, along with a DNR conservation officer patrolled the area but were unable to locate the wire.
The subsequent investigation revealed a 16 -year-old male from Larsen, Wis., had allegedly tied the wire across the trail. Deputies said a report has been submitted to the Ontonagon County Prosecutor's Office seeking a charge of felonious assault. There were no details as to the extent of injuries to the ORV rider.
