Vehicle hits local home

Police on the lookout for suspect

RAPID RIVER - A male subject is scheduled to be arraigned in Delta County District Court on Wednesday in connection with a vehicle crashing into a home in Masonville Township early Monday, according to Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post. No one was injured.

The subject was arrested for careless driving, failure to report an accident, and failure to change his address.

The person allegedly crashed into a residence located on U.S. 2 in Rapid River. Troopers were dispatched to the home after the homeowner reported hearing a loud bang around 4:55 a.m.

Police determined a vehicle had crashed into the house and fled the scene. There was extensive damage to the home and the vehicle, which troopers continue to be on the lookout for, according to the news release.

From evidence collected at the scene, the vehicle is said to be beige in color with extensive damage to the front passenger side. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (906) 428-4212.
