JOLIET, Ill. - Escanaba resident Danny Beauchamp continued his streak of dominance last weekend at the Chicagoland Speedway, finishing in first place in the Super Stock Truck division both Saturday and Sunday.
"It's been a combination of hard work at the shop and me having the experience now," he said. "I'm used to running hard and running smart. As long as my truck finishes races, I figure I'll win. You've got to almost have the mindset that you'll win every race."
Beauchamp has now won three straight races and has improved to second place in the points standings, trailing Don Demeny by just four points.
"It is going to take winning races to win the championship," he said. "I don't think Demeny has finished off the podium but one time this year. He's very consistent. I'm not planning on finishing behind him though; he knows I'm coming for him."
Beauchamp added that the recent win streak has really helped to boost confidence throughout the team, his crew, as well as his driving.
Beauchamp's cousin, Scott Beauchamp, finished in seventh place Saturday and fourth place Sunday in the Pro Light division. Wilson resident Mark Kleiman took fifth on Saturday and seventh Sunday, also of the Pro Light division.
Races resume August 10-11 at RedBud MX course in Buchanan, Mich.
