July 25, 2013
Daily Press
Pictured above is a family of Sandhill Cranes spotted alongside M-35, between McFarland and Little Lake, in Marquette County. From left to right are the baby crane, mother crane and father crane. The Sandhill Crane can live up to 20 years. They breed in open marshes and wet grasslands. Their diet consists of mostly grains and seeds, some insects, other invertebrates, and small vertebrates.
