Margie Viola Cretens

KIPLING - Margie Viola Cretens, 89, passed away Monday afternoon, July 22, 2013, at her home in Kipling, surrounded by her loving family.

Margie was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Kipling, the daughter of George and Agnes (Poliquin) Rivers. She was raised in Kipling and attended the Kipling and Gladstone schools. On Nov. 21, 1940, Margie was united in marriage to Charles E. Cretens and together the couple made their home, raised their family and spent their entire lives in Kipling. Charles preceded Margie in death on Jan. 7, 1999.

Margie was a member of the All Saints Church in Gladstone, as well as the Gladstone Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and baking.

Survivors include: son, Charles (Marlene) Cretens; daughters, Susan E. Cretens, Carolyn M. (Donnie) Cornelia; sister, Mary Olive; grandchildren, Michael Cowen, Sara (Nick) Chernick, Jamie (Chris Kidd) King and Lindsay (Dan) VanBrocklin; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mara, Maddie, Maksim, Deriyan, Toni, Charlee and Erynn. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, George and Agnes, and her husband Charles, Margie was preceded in death by: son, Michael, on Aug. 26, 1967; brothers, Dan, Louis and George; sister, Rose.

Funeral services for Margie will be held at the convenience of the Cretens family. Margie will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Cretens family with arrangements.
