GLADSTONE - Lorraine Lela Lough (Marcou) of Gladstone celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday.
Lorraine was raised in Iron Mountain. She and her late husband, Emmett, bought the Gladstone Floral in 1969 with co-owners BettyAnn (daughter) and Mike DeFiore. Lorraine was a top student in her floral design class in Lower Michigan.
Lorraine took up the game of golf in 1973 and was a long-time member of the Gladstone Golf Club, boasting of her first hole-in-one at the age of 82.
In addition to daughter BettyAnn, the Loughs are the parents of daughter, Mary Jane Nelson of Niagara, Wis., and son, the late John Emmett Lough. Lorraine also has 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, which make them a five generation family.
Lorraine celebrated her birthday on July 6 with a family gathering at her Lake View Assisted Living residence in Gladstone. Lorraine enjoys reminiscing about her wonderful childhood, seven siblings and loving parents.
