ESCANABA - For those wondering when the heat and humidity will come to an end, there is some relief in sight.

Local weather officials say humidity should decrease by the weekend, despite a heat wave that has frazzled many other parts of the United States.

According to data from the National Weather Service in Marquette, the Manistique Waste Water Treatment Plant recorded a high temperature Wednesday of 93 degrees.

Temperatures in Escanaba Wednesday were a bit cooler, but not much, with the Escanaba Water Plant recording a high of 86 degrees, up from a high of 84 on Monday and Tuesday. The Delta County Airport also boasted a high temperature of 86 degrees Wednesday, according to David Petrovich, meteorological technician at the NWS in Marquette.

"Fortunately I can say the heat wave is not going to continue," said Petrovich, who noted a cold front moving through the area should kick the hot, humid air out of the region by the weekend.

Delta, Schoolcraft, and Menominee counties are under a hazardous weather outlook for today, along with other portions of western and central Upper Michigan.
