Marjorie E. Tatrow

GARDEN - Marjorie E. Tatrow, 83, of 15866 17th Road, Garden, died July 9, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Negaunee, the daughter of Reuben and Ellen (Sivula) Helgren and was a graduate of Negaunee High School with the Class of 1948.

Marg continued her education at Northern Michigan University in Marquette and also at the Northwest Institute of Technology in Minneapolis. She was employed as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell and also as a hospital lab tech. in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Munising and Marquette.

On March 15, 1958, the former Marjorie E. Helgren married Lawrence R. Tatrow in Munising. They have lived in Wisconsin, Ohio and Negaunee and moved to Garden in 1966 where they raised their family.

Marg was a member of the Congregational Church of Garden. Over the years, she enjoyed snow skiing, ice skating, swimming, camping and reading. She loved to spend time with her family and her cat Abby.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Lawrence "Stub" Tatrow of Garden; son, Mark L. Tatrow of Garden; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Boynton of Garden; grandchildren, Travis Tatrow and Stacy (Mark) Miller; step-grandchildren, Renee Boynton Lea and Jason Boynton; great-grandchildren, Cameron Tatrow and Cali Miller; brother, Robert Helgren of Iron Mountain; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Debra Sue and Donald.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, July 12, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Garden. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darrel Pizzala officiating. Burial will be in the New Garden Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Big Bay de Noc Scholarship Foundation.
