No peace and quiet

July 9, 2013
Daily Press

EDITOR:

It's close to 1 a.m.. on the 5th of July. Fireworks are going off on the west side of the Escanaba River, north of 420, loud enough to wake me and to send several of our animals running for a safer place to escape the noise.

I don't believe I'd get any satisfaction calling the police, and the people doing this have little regard for the peace and quiet of the neighborhood.

We moved up here some years ago for peace and quiet upon retirement. Since we've located here, my wife has contracted cancer, I've had a stroke, which makes me sensitive to loud noises, the ice track is across the street, and the fireworks noise is unbearably loud.
