ESCANABA - A 66-year-old Gladstone man is scheduled to go to trial next month for sexually abusing a minor in Gladstone.

Joseph Gordon Grenier Jr., of 1307 Dakota Ave., Gladstone, is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charge stems from incidents from 2011-2012 in Gladstone involving a female under the age of 13 years.

During a pretrial conference hearing in Delta County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Grenier was scheduled to go to trial for the felony on Aug. 27-28. Grenier is charged as a habitual offender, second offense notice, which increases the felony's maximum sentencing from 15 years to 22.5 years in prison.

Grenier is also charged as an habitual offender with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim between the ages of 13-16 years. The charge stems from incidents in 2012 in Gladstone involving a second female victim. He is scheduled for a pretrial conference in circuit court on this three-year count on Aug. 28.

Grenier remains in Delta County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond on each charge.

He was arrested May 6 by Gladstone Public Safety. Prior to the charges being bound over to circuit court, Grenier's case was suppressed to the public at the district court level.

He has been ordered by the court to not have contact with minors.
