Ann Darrell Oberg

RAPID RIVER - Ann Darrell Oberg, 88, of 10532 S.75 Road, Rapid River, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She was born March 1, 1925, in Gwinn, Mich., and was the daughter of Edward and Rae (Walkup) Hews.

Darrell was employed with the State of Michigan for the Department of Social Services and later with the Drivers License Bureau until her retirement in 1980. The former Ann Darrell Hews married Robert Oberg on Jan. 25, 1947, in Gladstone, Mich. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, sang in the church choir, a member of the ladies sewing circle at church and was a member of the State Employee Retirement Association. Darrell loved spending time with her family and cooking and painting.

Ann Darrell Oberg is survived by: husband, Robert; daughter, Christina Bach of Lakevilla, Ill.; four grandchildren, John M.A. Bergman, Greta, Laura and Ed Bach; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara Bergman; three sisters, Greta, Billie and Clara; and brother Sam.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Ann Darrell Oberg will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Gauger officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Calvary Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home.
