ESCANABA - During the Esky 150 Sesquicentennial Celebration week, a variety of musical selections will be performed at the Escanaba Area High School Auditorium on Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the program will go to the UP Honor Flight, thus, the name Esky "Honors" Music.

In addition to such titles as, "Music Through the Decades" or "Sentimental Journey" or "Music Extravaganza," Esky "Honors" Music will include a variety of songs, dances and skits representing the span from 1863 to the present along with bits of Escanaba's history over that period of time.

Some of the acts include: the Remnants Barbershop Chorus, the Dancing Grannies, members of the J.J.SLED, the Doily Sisters, a folk ensemble, various vocal soloists, a piano duet and ragtime piano, along with various instruments - the Delta Brass, violinists, guitarists, pianists, trombonist and even a Pogo-cellist plus some surprises. The show will end with the BrightSpots singing a Patriotic Medley with the finale including the entire cast of performers.

Unlike the USO Show which included all patriotic music for the benefit of UP Honor Flights in January of 2012, Esky "Honors" Music will include music from the Civil War era, Gay 90's and turn-of-the-Century songs to the 20s through 50s for the first act.

During intermission the audience can view pictures of the four missions of the UP Honor Flights and flags from the country from 1863 to the present in a setting displayed by the Escanaba Elks Lodge 354.

SesQUILTcentennial raffle tickets will be available at the auditorium door for the specially-made 150 quilt both before the show and during intermission with the winning ticket being drawn at the beginning of Act II. The show will continue with all types of entertainers representing the 1960s to the present.

Tickets are $10 each and available at Escanaba's Walgreens and Positively, the Center for Success.
