June Marie Martin

GLADSTONE - June Marie Martin, 83, passed away Monday afternoon, June 24, 2013, at her daughter's home in Gladstone.

June was born July 12, 1929, in Rapid River, the daughter of Horace and Corene (Birch) LaBumbard. She was raised in Rapid River and was a 1948 graduate of the Rapid River High School. In 1949, following graduation, June enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until 1950.

Upon her honorable discharge, June returned to Rapid River where on Aug. 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to Don Martin. Together June and Don made their home and raised their family and spent their entire life together, in Rapid River.

Over her lifetime, June enjoyed hunting, photography, golfing, playing cards, bird watching, attending Smear League at Rapid River Lions Club and Rapid River Senior Center. In younger years, June also loved to attend her children's sporting events.

Survivors include her sons, Steven (Sandra) Martin of Rapid River and Terry Green of Perkins; daughters, Cindy (Rich) Demeuse of Gladstone, Rebecca Gustafson of Gladstone, Debbie Porath of Rapid River and Dawn Harris of Marinette, Wis.; sister, Maureen "Dolly" (John) Karl of Tacoma, Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Horace and Corene; and her loving husband, Don; June was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry "Pete" and Horace "Sonny" LaBumbard; infant sister, Virginia LaBumbard; grandson, Gregory Martin; granddaughter, Amy Green; and son-in-law, Michael Porath.

Private visitation and funeral services for June will be held at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Family and friends are invited on Saturday, from 1 to 6 p.m., for a memorial gathering and celebration at the home of June's daughter, Cindy Demeuse, 8964 0.5 Lane in Gladstone.
