Exchange student thankful to host parents

EDITOR:

My name is Emma. I have spent a year in Gladstone attending Gladstone High School. I left my home country Sweden in August last year to experience the life as an American for a year. I am very thankful for Laura and Gary LaMarche for opening up their home for me and letting me be a part of their family. They have made me feel very welcome and I will miss my American family when I go back to Sweden.

Leaving everything you knew and what you grew up with is not the easiest thing to do, but you get so much out from it. I'm really thankful for all the new things I've had the opportunity to try and experience. I know more about myself and what I can do. I will never forget what I've learned and it will always be a part of who I am. I feel more securely and I'm not scared of trying new things. Being an exchange student is something that will be with me forever.

The world is a great place with many different cultural experience I would urge everybody who has an interest in it to contact YFU (866-493-8872).

Thanks to everybody I've met in the U.S. for all the experiences I had.

Love from Sweden
