Roxanne Carol (Monson) Cartwright

ESCANABA - Roxanne Carol (Monson) Cartwright, 60, 7015 M.5 Lane, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday morning, June 15, 2013, at her home.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1952, in Escanaba, daughter of Merritt J. and Dorothy J. (Sundling) Choate. Roxanne graduated from Escanaba High School in 1970.

On Aug. 30, 1969, Roxanne married Terrince B. Monson in Escanaba. He preceded her in death in 2002. She married Roy A. Cartwright in Escanaba on July 29, 2006.

Roxanne worked at the Island Resort and Casino for 23 years.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River and also the Heart of the North Lions Club.

Roxanne enjoyed cooking, catering and gardening. She loved being a grandmother and always extended herself to take care of others.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Cartwright of Escanaba; children, Tracey (Mike) Nelson of Iron River and James (Michelle) Monson of Bark River; stepchildren, Connie (Bill) Lark of Escanaba; Kim (Joe) Cunningham of Texas, Mark (Vicki) Cartwright of Rapid River and Tom (Leigh) Cartwright of Texas; grandchildren, Tristan, Faith, and Brayden Nelson of Iron River, Preston, Paige, Parker and Paxten Monson of Bark River, Ben, Beth, Bonnie, Derek, Logan, Raymin, Shantel, Connie, and Darren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Lois) Choate of Escanaba; and sister, Sandy (Don) Gaulden of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Terrince, Roxanne was preceded in death by her granddaughers, Hope and Payten Monson; and siblings, Stuart "Butch" Monson, Mary Gere, and Marilyn Christianson.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Swillium officiating. A meal will follow at the Bark River Senior Center.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Monson-Cartwright family.
