Cecile M. Fillion

ESCANABA - Cecile M. Fillion, 90, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Cecile was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Escanaba, the daughter of Henry and Georgiana (Plouff) Richer. She was raised in Flat Rock and was a 1941 graduate of Escanaba Senior High School. On Dec. 27, 1941, Cecile was united in marriage to Herman Fillion, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. Together the couple made their home and raised their family in Escanaba. Cecile was a loving mother and grandmother. Her pleasant nature and warming smile lit up the lives of all she knew.

She was a blessing to her family and a joy to spend time with. She loved to play cards and in later years bingo. She will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her sons, Bob (Mary) Fillion of Danforth, Willard (Thuy) Fillion of Shreveport, La., Mike Fillion of Gainesville, Fla.; daughter, Doris Fillion Murray of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Natasha (Tom) Oliver, Terri (Ronnie) Randolph, Tammi (Jeff) Reynolds, Tonya (Benji) Freeman, and Rick (Cindy) Fillion. Also listed among the surviving family are 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Henry and Georgiana; and her loving husband, Herman; Cecile was preceded in death by her son, William Fillion; grandson, Craig Fillion; granddaughter, Jessica Fillion; sisters, Leona LaMarch and Elaine Anipen; daughter-in-law, Linda Fillion.

Cecile's family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow visiting hours on Wednesday, at noon, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Thomas Church Parish Hall. Cecile will be laid to rest following luncheon in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba.

In lieu of flowers, the Fillion family respectfully requests that contributions be directed to St. Vincent de Paul in Escanaba. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County.
