This week's bouquets go to:
From Chris Lundin of Rapid River Reading Buddies:
"On behalf of the Rapid River Reading Buddies, I would like to thank the Rapid River Lions Club, Rapid River American Legion and Auxiliary, Rapid River Memorial Day Committee, and the RSVP Program. Without your financial support, our program would not be possible. In addition, I would like to thank the Gladstone Library and the Gladstone Senior Center for hosting our story hour and pizza party. A special thank you to all the volunteers who made a difference in the life of a child. We look forward to seeing you next year!"
From Judy VanDamme of Webster School:
"Webster School would like to thank the Hannahville Indian Community for awarding our school a 2 percent grant. This grant money allowed us to purchase fruit trees, soil, and fencing, which will make our school a more beautiful environment and provides our students with valuable learning experiences. Without generous donors like you this would not be possible. Thank you."
From Alice Majestic of Rapid River:
"A special thanks to the Legionnaires and Auxiliary members of the Walter W. Cole Post of Rapid River for the services conducted at five cemeteries on Memorial Day. They were Ogontz, Nahma, Isabella, Stonington and Rapid River. Also thanks to the Poppy girl, Savannah Deneau, and the buglers, Mary Bastain and Erik Sundling. They all did a super job in honoring our veterans. Thanks again, we are very proud of all of you."
From Kim Carne of Bay College:
"Bay College would like to thank the Bonifas Art Center for being chosen as the recipient for its 2013 Public Art Contest. The chosen art was a carved hummingbird wing from stone by artist Tom Rudd. It is nestled within the pine trees outside of the Besse Center Gallery, and contains some rotating movement. Bouquets to the Bonifas Arts Center for sharing this great piece of art with Bay College and the community. It is a wonderful natural addition of art to the courtyard. Bay College invites the public to campus - come check it out!"
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.
Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done.
Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.
They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
