WELLS - Edwin W. Peterson, 99, Wells, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1914, in Fayette, Mich., son of Henry and Olive Mae (Armstrong) Peterson. Edwin was raised in Nahma and graduated in 1933 from the F.W. Good School.
On Oct. 13, 1945, Edwin married the former Ruby Bramer in Nahma.

Edwin was a commercial fisherman who also worked road construction and was a custodian at the Escanaba High School.
He enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing and spending time at camp.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Edwin was also a member of the Eagles Club and the Rapid River American Legion.
Among survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruby of Wells; daughter, Christine (Clifford) Coppock of Wells; sons, Timothy "Mark" Peterson of Wells and Michael (Mary) Peterson of Ellsworth, Mich.; grandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Heiden, Timothy (Kerri) Coppock, Nicole "Nikki" (Jon) Creten, Tracey (Frank) Sliva, Jeremy (Peggy) Peterson, Angela (Rob) Reeves, Melissa (Travis) Marti, Phillip (Jessica) Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson and Nathan Peterson; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth, Hazel, Lillian, Beatrice and Dorothy; and great-grandson, Owen Coppock.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Escanaba. Escanaba Eagles memorial services and Rapid River American Legion services will be held between 4 and 5 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Rayford Ray officiating.
A luncheon will follow at the church.
Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
