ESCANABA - Robert K. McDonough, 72, of 1318 8th Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Woodward Hills Nursing Center in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Robert was born on Sept. 3, 1940, in Escanaba, son of Patrick J. and Leona M. (Carlson) McDonough.
Robert was retired from Mead Paper Co., where he worked for 36 years. He was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and a terrific poker player. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated a tent rental company and enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicle.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra M. (Erickson) McDonough; his brother, Roland P. McDonough; and an infant sister.
Survivors include daughter, Michelle M. (John) Romig; grandchildren, Meghan E. Romig and John W. Romig V, all of Troy, Mich.; his sister, Cheryl (Clint) Way of New Berlin, Wis.; sister-in-law, Barbara McDonough of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba from 10 a.m. to noon. The funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Pastor David Grant officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A catered buffet luncheon will follow in the funeral home dining room.
