KINGSFORD - The Escanaba girls held their own, but were unable to keep pace with Marquette in Saturday's Upper Peninsula Division 1 Track Finals.

Marquette, as expected, rolled to its third straight title with 145 points. Negaunee edged Esky 62 1/2-54 for the runner-up trophy.

The Redettes were led by freshman Lindsey Rudden, who set U.P. records in the 800-meter run at two minutes, 16.46 seconds, 1600 (5:05.5) and 3200 (11:26.13) and helped the winning 3200 relay. Her effort in the 800 was also a school record.

"That was a very impressive performance," said Esky boys' coach Ryan Wender. "I really enjoyed watching her run."

Menominee's Mandy Long was the former recordholder in the 800 at 2:21.25 and Sault Ste. Marie's Natalie Cahill previously held the 3200 record (11:38.2), both from 2001.

Also falling by the wayside was the former 1600 record (5:19.73), set by Iron Mountain's Kelly McClure in 2005.
