ESCANABA - A three-vehicle accident in Gladstone that claimed the lives of an Escanaba couple last spring continues to be reviewed by the Delta County prosecutor's office.

No decision has been made whether charges will be authorized or not in connection with the fatality.

Thomas Swift, 73, was killed in the March 20 accident, while his wife, Barbara Swift, 73, died later from injuries received in the collision.

The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 2 and 41/M-35 and South Hill Road, south of Gladstone, at approximately 8:21 p.m. The crash involved two passenger vehicles and a semi truck.

Thomas Swift, a driver of one of the passenger vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene. Barbara Swift, his passenger, was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital then transferred to Marquette General Hospital where she later died from her injuries on March 24.

The second passenger vehicle was driven by Joyce Scheriff, 72, of Gladstone. She was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital, where she was admitted for treatment and later released.

The semi truck was driven by Harley Durocher, 24, of Gwinn. He was not injured in the accident.

Gladstone Public Safety investigated the crash. No details are being released on how the accident occurred pending the prosecutor's review.
