Joseph A. Boch

ESCANABA - Joseph A. Boch, 94, 4023 13.75 Rd, Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1918, in Beaver Falls, Penn. As a child, Joseph lived in Chicago and then his family moved to Perronville. Joseph graduated from Bark River-Harris School.

Joseph served in the Army Air Corp as a radio mechanic from January of 1941 until his honorable discharge on September of 1945. He received medals for Distinguished Unit, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and Asiatic and Pacific Service Medal.

On Sept. 7, 1946, Joseph married Margaret Mae VanEnkevort at St. George's Church in Bark River.

He was employed at Mead Paper as a papermaker and also served as union steward.

He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.

Among survivors include his wife, Margaret; children, Betty (David) Palmgren and David (Gayle) Boch of Gladstone; grandchildren, Heatherlynn Palmgren, Joey Boch, and Trevor Boch.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veterans Council will offer military rites at 6 p.m. and parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Anne's Church on Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Bark River Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Boch family.
