Frederick N. ‘Fritz’ Gould

ESCANABA - Frederick N. (Fritz) Gould, 84, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at his winter home in Weslaco, Texas. Fritz was born on March 25, 1929, in Manyaksa Township, Minn., to the late Edwin and Mayme Gould. Fritz married Mae Hynes on Jan. 16, 1994, and spent the last 19 years living in Escanaba and Weslaco, Texas. He served in both the Marines and the Air Force. He spent most of his career in construction management in southern Minnesota.

In retirement, he enjoyed woodcrafts and golfing. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Escanaba and a member of Delta Masonic Lodge 195. He loved wintering in Texas where he gathered with friends each morning for coffee and fellowship.

Surviving are his wife, Mae; children, Corrine (Tom) Riley of North Mankato, Minn., and Brian (Lori) Gould of Marine on St. Croix, Minn.; stepchildren, Mary (Gerald) Destrampe of Chillicothe, Ohio, Shireen (Tom) McLaughlin of Gladstone, Allen (Patty) Hynes of Neenah, Wis., and Carla (Rodney) Lanaville of Escanaba; grandchildren, Seth (Crystal) Riley of Austin, Texas, Kelsey Riley of Boulder, Colo., Emily Gould of Marine of St. Croix, Minn., Alicia (Erik) Standerfer of Chillicothe, Ohio, Kevin (Allison) McLaughlin of Guilford, Conn., Colin (Kristin) McLaughlin of Colleyville, Texas, Allen Hynes III of Neenah, Wis., Chad Hynes of Appleton, Wis., Nichole Lanaville of Green Bay, Wis., and Jacob (Cassie) Lanaville of Escanaba; great-grandchildren, Katana, Lindsey, Ian, Alex, Payton, Eila and Garrett; siblings, Sally (Bob) Malo of Sherburn, Minn. Richard (Helen Ann) Gould of Fairmont, Minn., Helen (John) Houle of Mounds View, Minn. and Jack (Sue) Gould of Pocohantas, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and his sister, Beret.

A memorial service will be held May 29 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 302 South 6th Street, Escanaba. Rev. Margery Host will officiate. A luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall at the conclusion of the service. Internment will be in Fairmont, Minn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, Escanaba.
