Nursing homes provide team care

May 6, 2013
Daily Press

EDITOR:

Once again area nursing homes are preparing for National Nursing Home Week, which begins on Mother's Day May 12 and ends May 18. This year's theme is "Team Care: Everyone Pitches In!" Today skilled nursing care facilities encourage resident and family involvement in designing a personalized, resident-centered care plan - a program of medical, therapy, nutrition and social activities.

Our residents and their loved ones play a major role in helping to design a plan of care that promotes individual strengths and personal wishes. This really is a team approach for not only our facility employees but for family members. We believe that this multidisciplinary approach is the best way to ensure resident and family satisfaction with personal care and facility life. It truly is a Team Care approach. Please join us here at the Bishop Noa Home in celebrating what we do with great pride. We have a wonderful week of events planned, as do all area nursing homes.

Join us in celebrating our residents and our employees during this week. I would encourage a visit to a loved one, past neighbor or just a tour of any of our area nursing homes. If you are unable to visit, make a phone call; send a greeting card or flowers. This special attention will make someone's day!

The Escanaba area is blessed with long term care facilities that truly offer quality of life and care to their residents.

Please watch for National Nursing Home Week events at all our nursing facilities and make a special effort to share the "Team Approach" with someone special during this week.
