Gereau - Wotchko

RAPID RIVER - The Oja Farm on Days River was the venue for the Sept. 2 marriage of Danielle Mary Fay Gereau to Brian James Wotchko. Patrick Digneit officiated over the afternoon wedding.

The bride, escorted by her father, was chauffeured to the ceremony in a 1929 Ford Model A by her uncle, Rob Smauley. The Model A was owned by the bride's great-grandfather, William Oja, passed to her grandfather, Emil Oja, and is now owned by her aunt, Christine Smauley.

Attending her sister as maid of honor was Sarah Buckley. Gina Gereau, sister-in-law, and the groom's sister, Alison Wotchko, were bridesmaids along with the bride's cousin, Sara Seronko. The bride's friends Nikki Danis, Ashley Covell and Laurel Wightman also served as bridesmaids. The bride's niece and goddaughter, Aubrey Gereau, was the flower girl. Finley Buckley was a special helper for her aunt and godmother.

The groom's friends, Collin Burklund and Richard Poma, served as co-best men. Also standing with the groom was the bride's brother, Thomas Gereau, the couple's brother-in-law, Jason Buckley, and the groom's friend, Daniel Larrabee. The bride's nephew, Jett Buckley, was the "ring-master." Ushering guests were the bride's five-year-old nephews, Jaxon Buckley and Owen Gereau.

Special verses were read by the bride's godmother, Christine Smauley, as well as by friends, Erica Skellenger and Alessa Boes.

Among the 350 in attendance to the outdoor affair, special guests were the bride's grandparents, Barry and Gloria Gereau, her great-grandmother, Elsie Fay Gereau and the groom's grandmother, Shirley Wotchko from Saginaw.

The bride is the daughter of Guy and Nancy Gereau of Gladstone. Danielle graduated from both Michigan State University and Northern Michigan University. She is an English teacher at Escanaba High School.

The groom is the son of Dennis and Kathryn Wotchko of Rapid River. Brian earned a degree from Bay de Noc Community College in electronics. He is a signal maintainer for Canadian National Railroad.

The couple honeymooned in Costa Rica. They are making their home in Rapid River.
