Ford River firefighters say thank you to the community

April 29, 2013
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From the Ford River Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department:

"We would like to thank the community for their support during our recent pancake breakfast and bake sale. The support we continue to receive from our community made our pancake breakfast and bake sale fund-raiser a huge success. The money we raise with our various fundraising events goes toward purchasing new modern equipment and replacing old or defective equipment which in turn makes our job a lot safer and allows our firefighters to do their jobs more efficiently. Thank you!"

From Big Bay de Noc School:

An assembly was held recently at Big Bay de Noc School for grades 3-9. This assembly was to honor the students that made progress on their MEAP test scores for the 2012-13 school year. Every student who made progress was given a prize thanks to donations from local businesses including Pizza Hut and Hardee's of Manistique. The grand prize winner was Kaitlyn Halvorson, grade 8. She took home a Kindle Fire.

From Right to Life of Delta County:

"Thanks to Bay de Noc College for the use of its facilities to hold the 24th annual Right to Life of Michigan High School Oratory contest. Special thanks to everyone involved and all the students for their very effective speeches.

From the Gladstone School Basketball Program:

"The Gladstone Basketball Program would like to thank all the businesses in Escanaba and Gladstone who donated and contributed items for our first 5-5 tournament. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped with the concession stands, door entrances, officials, set-up and clean-up crew, and people who brought in baked goods. With our community's help, Gladstone School's girls and boys basketball tournament was a huge success and the money raised will be used for Gladstone basketball programs. A special thank you to the entire Castor family for their countless hours and dedication in making this tournament a huge success."
