This years "Elk of the Year" award goes to Jim Barr. Barr has been a member for 44 years, the last six as a Life Member. Barr was recognized as "Elk of the Year" for his outstanding service to the club.
He is always present at the Sunday brunches and is always seen helping out with cleaning and work bees in keeping the club presentable. He has been a faithful member and enjoys the camaraderie with the members watching football on Sundays and bowling in the past.
Barr stepped up this year and filled in for the Drug Awareness Chairman and ran the Drug Awareness Poster Program for the students in grades 4-6 in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties.
Barr is a retired administrator from Bay de Noc Community College. He and his wife, Sharon, are the parents of two children, Alison and Ben. They have made Escanaba their home since 1968.
