Ground broken for new Baraga Chapel

April 6, 2013
Daily Press

MARQUETTE - Building upon the life and ministry of Venerable Frederic Baraga, the first bishop of the Diocese of Marquette, a project has been initiated to build a new chapel to house his remains for more fitting veneration. Archbishop Alexander Sample and Monsignor Michael Steber, pastor of St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette, were among those participating in the groundbreaking that was held March 26 at St. Peter Cathedral courtyard. The chapel design will harmonize with the beauty of St. Peter Cathedral.
