Carol June Erickson

ESCANABA - Carol June Erickson, 66, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at her home.

Carol was born June 25, 1946, in Appleton, Wis., the daughter of Wallace A. and Lorraine J. (Hedsten) Kemmer. Her family moved to Escanaba when she was four years old. She attended the St. Patrick and Holy Name Schools and graduated from the Escanaba High School in 1964. She attended St. Anne's Catholic Church and was proud to be an usher. She was a former member of the Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary August Mattson Post 71. Carol was also an avid needleworker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, camping, reading and loved animals.

Carol is survived by her sister, Cheryl Kemmer of Escanaba; nieces, Viki Busch of Shawano, Wis., and Lori Busch of Wisconsin; nephews, Ron Busch of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jim Busch of Appleton, Wis.; cousins, Suzanne Buyan of Milwaukee, Wis., and Marilyn LaMarche of Denton, Texas; special friends, Sally Erickson, Robby Erickson, Dolores Fredricks, Elsie Anderson, Pat Jones, Chum Perryman, all her friends at the Meadowbrook Apartments and her cat, Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Sovey; her second husband, Keith MacKnight; her parents; two brothers, Wallace M. and Jack Kemmer; and a sister, Zelia Bucholtz.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, from 3 to 6 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at the church with Rev. Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will be served following the services in the church fellowship hall. Carol will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

The Erickson family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
