Betty Mae Rogers

ESCANABA - Betty Mae Rogers, 74, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at her home in Escanaba surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Monroe, Mich., and was the daughter of Auburn and Emma (Fox) Terry. The former Betty Mae Terry married James Wade Baldwin on April 20, 1957, in Monroe; Mich. Betty lived in Monroe, Mich., until 1977 and then moved to Florida. In Florida she worked as a secretary at the University of Florida for the chief plastic surgeon at the university. She also worked at the V.A. Hospital in Florida. In 1994 Betty moved to Escanaba and was employed as a desk clerk at the Island Resort and Casino until her retirement.

Betty enjoyed gardening, camping, cooking, baking, sewing, doing crafts, sing with her family, collecting stamps and was a published poet. Betty loved the Lord and her family always came first.

Betty Mae Rogers is survived by: children, Jim (Jeanice) Baldwin of Escanaba, Jayne (Jimmie) Crawford of Gainesville, Fla., Jerry (Beth) Baldwin of Escanaba and Joyce (James) Matulewicz of Bark River; grandchildren, Tiny Baldwin, Joshua Baldwin, Ashley Baldwin, Emmalyn Pease, Grace Pease, David Pease, Anna Matulewicz, Latosha Williams, Sabrina Williams, Candace Crawford and J.R. Crawford; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Don) Barker of Monroe, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and John Pease of Escanaba.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Wade Baldwin, on Feb. 9, 2013.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Salvation Army in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Mae Rogers will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army with Major Leonard White officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral service in the Salvation Army fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery.
