New laws to take effect

LANSING (AP) - Michigan's contentious right-to-work law, which prevents unionized workers from being forced to pay union dues or fees, and a new law that prohibits teen drivers from using hand-held cellphones while behind the wheel are among many new laws set to take effect Thursday, three months after the Republican-controlled Legislature passed a flurry of bills in lame duck session.
