ESCANABA - Members of the Escanaba School Board have rated Superintendent Michele Lemire as "highly effective" in her annual evaluation conducted recently.
Lemire was evaluated in four categories: student achievement, communication, facilities, and fiscal responsibility.
The board decided to give her an overall rating this year instead of breaking it down by category.
The board discussed the progress Lemire made in each category, but did not discuss any salary increase based on her performance.
"Her dedication to this district in the areas she is evaluated is truly appreciated by the Board of Education," said Board President James Hermans, in a statement. "She is working hard and her efforts have increased student learning and helped tremendously on budget concerns. She has many issues to control and is doing a great job. In times of economic concerns in our state and at the local level, Ms. Lemire's work and communication of all issues have been open and honest. It is a pleasure to work with her."
