Gladstone Public Library sponsored the "Read the Most from Coast to Coast" nationwide Accelerated Reading Challenge on March 1. Students from Cameron, Jones and Gladstone Junior High Schools participated by reading as many books as possible in one day and then taking AR quizzes. Picking out books to check out at the library are fourth-grade students, Samara Brunette, left, Isabella Tripp, Alexa Tryan and Gabrielle Wares. Gladstone students passed 5,279 AR quizzes. The new nationwide record of 4,409,622 was beat by 827,630. The Rennaissance Accelerated Reading Program is a technology-based educational tool with a primary focus on accelerating K-12 reading.
