Tammy M. Vardigan

ESCANABA - Tammy M. Vardigan, 55, 912 S. 12th St., Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

She was born on Aug. 12, 1957, in Escanaba, daughter of Elmer "Al" and Donna (Walker) Belanger. Tammy graduated from Escanaba High School in 1975.

On Nov. 5, 1976, the former Tammy Belanger married Robert "Bob" Vardigan at St. Patrick's Church in Escanaba. For 17 years, Tammy and Bob and their family lived in Chicago before returning to Escanaba 18 years ago.

Tammy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being with her family and spending time camping, reading, traveling and being at Stella Lake. She especially enjoyed vacationing in Cancun each year with very special friends. Tammy enjoyed listening to Escanaba sports on the radio.

She was a member of St. Anne's Church.

Among her survivors include her husband, Bob of Escanaba; three daughters, Nichole (Kevin) McGraw of Lockport, Ill., Mandy Vardigan of Milwaukee, Angela (Kevin) Puszczewicz of Escanaba; five grandchildren, Caitlyn, Owen, and Kelcie McGraw and Brynn Puszczewicz; and baby Puczczewicz who is due in May. Tammy is also survived by her mother, Donna Belanger; brothers, Rick (Peggy) Belanger, Brad (Jodi Slaga) Belanger, Todd (Tammy Weissert) Belanger of Escanaba; sisters, Nancy (Dave) Kositzky, Chris (Tom) Leonard and Roni (Jim) Beaudoin, all of Escanaba, and Marla (Pete) Jazdzyk of Ravenna, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Al, who passed away on June 7, 2012.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date in Tammy's name. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Vardigan family.
