ESCANABA - An Escanaba man faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct in connection with an alleged assault on a 14-year-old victim earlier this year, according to records in Delta County Circuit Court.

Brandon Scott Cole, 21, of 1720 8th Ave. S., Escanaba, was arrested on Jan. 10 for an incident involving a minor in Escanaba Township.

Cole was originally arrested for accosting children for immoral purposes. He was officially charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sexual penetration with a female victim aged 13-15 years old. The felony carries a maximum punishment of 15 years in prison.

Cole was also charged with a second count of criminal sexual conduct - assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, a 10-year felony.

The case was recently bound over from district court to circuit court. Court records were suppressed to the public and media at the district court level where he was ordered not to have contact with the victim.

Cole is scheduled for a hearing in circuit court on Thursday when a date could be set for a trial or a plea.
