FORD RIVER - Officials say a garage in Ford River is a total loss following a fire that broke out Friday afternoon.
Firefighters from the Ford River Township Fire Department responded at 3:33 p.m. to a garage fire at the home of Joe and Julie Phillips located at E4888 M-35.
According to fire chief Jon Giese, the fire took place in a detached garage approximately 10 feet from the Phillips residence. The home was not damaged. No injuries were reported.

The garage, which is insured, is a complete loss.
The homeowner estimated $22,000 worth of contents were destroyed, including many tools, power equipment, and recreation equipment.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 6:50 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Mutual aid was provided by Escanaba Public Safety.
