ESCANABA - Michael Paul Ceccarelli, 56, of 309 S. 11th St., Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, of an apparent heart attack at his home.
He was born on May 31, 1956, in Bridgeport, Conn., son of Michael A. and Maria P. (Baldino) Ceccarelli. Michael graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Trumbull, Conn., before graduating from Connecticut State University. Michael attended Central Michigan University and Northern Michigan University with hopes to earn his master's degree in fines arts.
On May 12, 1995, Michael married the former Laura Fruehling at Open Door Baptist Church in Midland, Mich.

Michael was employed with Metro North Railroad, Mid Michigan Community College, Central Michigan University and the University of Wisconsin.
In 1995, Michael moved to Escanaba and was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a lay minister.
He was a member of Delta Sigma Psi Fraternity and a recipient of the Kipling award as a published poet.
Michael is survived by his wife, Laura, of Escanaba; mother, Marie P. Ceccarelli; sons, Stacy Fruehling of Marquette and Morgan Fruehling of Escanaba; godchildren, Patsy and Gerald Parrett of Rapid River. He is also survived by his good friends and fraternity brothers, Lenny and Chuck amongst others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael A. Ceccarelli; sister, Donna Ceccarelli.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. The memorial service celebrating the life of Michael will follow at 7 p.m. Fellowship time following the service will take place in the church hall. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Ceccarelli family.
