Cecil LaRoy Andrews

POWERS - Cecil LaRoy Andrews, 84, of Powers, Mich., passed away peacefully on Monday evening, Feb. 25, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1928, in Cody, Neb., to Oscar D. and Katherine E. (Ainsle) Andrews. Cecil graduated from Cody High School.

On May 17, 1952, Cecil married Betty JoAnn Larson in Cody, Neb.

Cecil worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He was a geological surveyor for two years, a ranch hand for 22 years, manager of a family owned grocery store, and worked at cheese factories in Nebraska, Minnesota and Michigan for 15 years until his retirement in 1990 from Frigo Cheese in Carney, Mich.

After retirement, his passions for the Lord led him to volunteer for the Senior Companion Program and at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility which gave him much enjoyment helping others.

He was an extremely loving and caring man that enjoyed spending time with family and caring for his various gardens through the years.

Among survivors include his wife of almost 61 years, Betty Andrews of Powers; four sons, Oscar (Debbie) Andrews of Wadena, Minn., Rick Andrews of Dubois, Wy., Reece (Tammy) Andrews of Arlington, Neb., Roy (Kim) Andrews of Chesterfield, Mich.; three daughters, June (Dale) Erickson of Wadena, Minn., Janine (Ray) Hewlett of Vulcan, Mich., and Reva (Mark) Kleiman of Wilson, Mich.; brother, Joe Andrews of Longmont, Colo.; two brother-in-laws, Larry (LaVera) Larson of Iron, Minn., and Lisle Reeve of Faith, S.D.; 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Robin; brothers, Raymond and Rex Andrews; and sister, Mary Reeve.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial that will be designated at a later date.

Cecil was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Wilson, where services will be held on Sunday, March 3, with visitation at 10 EST and a memorial service at 11 EST. Lunch will follow at the Wilson Junior Academy.

The arrangements are in the care of the Crawford Funeral Homes.
