Cecelia M. Dalgord

FAYETTE - Cecelia M. Dalgord, 99, of Fayette, Mich., passed away on Feb. 24, 2013, at her daughter Bonnie's home in Green Bay, Wis. She was just 19 days shy of celebrating her 100th birthday.

She was born March 15, 1913, in Gulliver, Mich., the daughter of Colin and Edith (Rice) Greene. Her mother died when Cecelia was five years of age and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Mae (McCauley) Greene. She attended school in Fayette.

On Dec. 15, 1932, the former Cecelia M. Greene married Leo W. Dalgord in Garden, Mich. They lived, worked and raised their family on the farm in Fayette. Leo preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1994.

Cecelia was a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fayette and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden. She was a member of St. Peter's Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting, studying family history, and listening to music.

Cecelia is survived by her children, Everette (Mildred) Dalgord of Trenary, Bonnie (Joseph) Hardy of Green Bay, Wis., and James (Carol) Dalgord of Fayette; grandchildren, Michelle (Shannon) Mulrine, Mark Hardy, Bart (Karma) Hardy, Michael (Autumn) Hardy, Lonnie (Mitzi) Dalgord, Loren (Vicki) Dalgord, Debra Bass, Brenda Mikulich, Kimbra (George) Watson, Blane (Sandy) Dalgord and Marshall (Kim) Dalgord; great-grandchildren, Kevin Mulrine, Lauren Mulrine, Jamie Hardy, Jordan Hardy, Sarah (Dave) Anderson, Joseph Hardy, Jacob Hardy, Paul Hardy, Michaela Hardy, Bailey Dalgord, Evan Dalgord, Jordyne Dalgord, Brooke Dalgord, Connor Dalgord, Jeffrey Mikulich, Jason Mikulich, Roxanne Watson, James Watson, Kayla Ellis, Jackie (Jesse) Foraker, Jace (Chelsea) Dalgord, John Dalgord, Jordan Dalgord and Joseph Dalgord; great-great-grandchildren, Davis Anderson, Vivian Anderson, Logan Ellis, Jackson Ellis, Cain Ellis and Cordelia Rose Foraker.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Marshall Wayne Dalgord in 1933; her grandson, Paul Hardy; her great-grandson, Taylor Paul Hardy; her brothers, George and Earl Greene; her sisters, Isabel Thill and Eileen Brooks; her stepsisters, Bertha, Ruth, Anna and Rita; and her stepbrother, Hubert.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. EST, Sunday, March 3, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Garden. Liturgical prayers will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. EST, Monday, March 4, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden with Father Antony Lukka officiating. Burial will be held in the Sac Bay Cemetery at Fayette.

Memorial donations may be directed to a memorial fund of your choice at the Big Bay de Noc School.

The family would like to express their thanks to Unity Hospice, to Sister Helen Keyser, and to Cecelia's caregivers, Marge Carr, Mary Ann Pettey, and Karma and Michelle, for the comfort and care they gave to Cecelia during her final days.
