ISHPEMING - An Upper Peninsula television station was the victim of a bizarre hacking incident Monday.

The emergency alert system of ABC 10 in Ishpeming was hacked into; hackers posted a message that ran across the bottom of the TV screen about bodies rising from the dead. Similar situations have reportedly occurred at several other TV stations, including one in Montana.

ABC 10 station manager and News Director Cynthia Thompson issued an apology on the station's website, www.abc10up.com.

"On behalf of ABC 10, please know that our personnel are working diligently to close any gaps in our security systems that could allow this to reoccur and to lock out any further intrusions," she stated.

ABC 10 has made contact with state cyber crime authorities to help investigate the incident.
