SENEY - A fatal accident along the Seney Stretch on M-28 claimed the life of a Marquette man Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4 p.m. near the Seney Rest Area.

According to the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post, which is investigating the incident, a 39-year-old Marquette man was driving a passenger vehicle along M-28 when he lost control and slid into the path of a loaded logging truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Slippery roads were a factor in the accident.

Police were not able to confirm the identity of the man this morning, but said he is believed to have been the lone occupant of the vehicle.

More details on the accident are expected to be released later today.

Troopers from the St. Ignace, Newberry, Sault Ste. Marie, and Manistique State Police posts assisted at the scene.
