Students in the Gladstone Middle School held a Penny War to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Within nine hours, the students and staff raised over $580. The initial idea to donate came from Lexi Winling, a seventh-grade student, who contacted the Red Cross herself. Her science class helped coordinate the efforts.
