ESCANABA - George S. Cavadeas, 79, of Escanaba, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 4, 2013, with his loving family at his side.
George was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Escanaba, the son of John and Mary (White) Cavadeas. He was raised in Bark River and was a graduate of the Bark River High School. In the early 1950s, George was employed by the Escanaba Power Plant before joining the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 506 where he worked as a plumber. George worked two jobs throughout the majority of his life and was also employed at Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a yard master. Proud of being a hard worker, George also operated a small farming business. His hobbies included shooting pool, hunting, fishing and spending time will his family. In his younger years, George was a Golden Glove boxing champ. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: son, George (Linda) Cavadeas of Escanaba, Mich.; daughters, Angie (Scott) Wienckowski of Wilson, Mich., Allie (Mike) Prim of Escanaba, Mich., Diane Hammond of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., Susanne (Paul) Kuracz of Merritt Island, Fla.; brothers, Ted Cavadeas of Green Bay, Wis., John (Char) Cavadeas of Gladstone, Mich.; sister, Margaret Henline of Miami, Fla. ; grandchildren, Haylee Hammond, Kacy and Kalli Cavadeas, and Addyson Wienckowski. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; brothers, Jim and Antone Cavadeas; sisters, Mary Bordeaux, Alice Plestaoheck and Lorraine Andrekopolous.
Funeral services for George Cavadeas will be held at the convenience of the Cavadeas family. Memorial contributions in George's name may be directed to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County.
