Editors note: Records are as of Monday afternoon.

The Marquette Redmen received their first loss at the hands of a streaking Sault Ste. Marie team, but UPSSA voters still found them worthy of retaining the No. 1 ranking in the boys basketball poll, released Tuesday.

For the second straight week, Marquette has claimed the top spot in both polls, though Negaunee garnered one first place vote in the boys poll.

The top-ranked Redmen (7-1) will be tested again this week with a visit to Ishpeming (3-2) tonight. No. 2 Negaunee (7-1) will play at L'Anse (3-4) tonight before hosting Norway (3-4) on Thursday.

Moving up to the No. 3 slot was Gwinn. The Modeltowners (6-2) handed Iron Mountain (6-2) its second loss this week, dropping them out of the rankings. Also dropping out was Ironwood (5-2).

In the Class D boys poll, Carney-Nadeau (7-0) retained the top spot as one of two remaining undefeated teams. The Wolves were a unanimous No. 1 after rolling to victories over No. 4 Mid Peninsula (4-2) and Big Bay de Noc (1-4) but the good times came to an end Monday night. The Wolves suffered their first defeat of the season as they fell to Munising (4-1) 40-37 at home. Carney will host Republic-Michigamme (2-4) Thursday.
