Kenneth E. Anderson

ESCANABA - Kenneth E. Anderson, 89, of 7084 L.5 Lane in Escanaba, Mich. (Soo Hill), passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veteran's in Marquette. He was born March 17, 1923, in Stonington, Mich., and was the son of Harold and Edith (Peterson) Anderson. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 11, 1943, until he was honorably discharged on May 22, 1946. After his military service Kenneth sailed on the Atlantic Ocean on a freighter and later sailed on the Great Lakes on a ore carrier. In 1957 Kenneth opened Anderson Nursery in Soo Hill and operated his business until his retirement. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. and the Delta Masonic Lodge.

Kenneth E. Anderson is survived by: brothers, John (Ardis) Anderson of Soo Hill, Wayne (Linda) Anderson of Ocoee, Fla.; four nieces, Myra (Pat) Skurupski, Marlene (Tom) Raeder, Monica (Nick) Wagner and Marci Anderson; four nephews, Marvin (Cindy) Anderson, Melvin (Jennifer) Anderson, Karlton Anderson and Kevin (Maria) Anderson; many relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Kerr.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Funeral services celebrating the life of Kenneth E. Anderson will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Christ the King Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home or at the church the day of the funeral. The Anderson Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
