ESCANABA - Holy Name Catholic School in Escanaba and Manistique's St. Francis de Sales School students competed and won in the regional Diocesan Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee, held at Holy Name Catholic School in early December. Some of the final words were salubrious, pterodactyl, ecclesiastical, gerontology, and divestiture.

Along with students from Holy Name and St. Francis de Sales, students from St. Mary's Catholic School in Sault Ste. Marie and Father Marquette Catholic School in Marquette competed in the annual event.

Winner in the seventh and eighth-grade division is Rushil Kasetty with runner-up, Luke LaFave. Both are seventh-grade students at Holy Name.
