GLADSTONE - The man who crashed his vehicle into a tavern in Gladstone on New Year's Eve was officially charged in Delta County District Court on Wednesday.

Erick Arthur Lindahl, 27, was arraigned in court and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a high blood alcohol content. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Lindahl, of Gladstone, was arrested after he drove his vehicle into Gibby's Bar, 720 4th Ave. N., at 1 a.m. Monday, according to Gladstone Public Safety. He was traveling west on M-35 when his vehicle left the road, hit an unoccupied vehicle in Gibby's parking lot, drove through a shed, and then crashed into the restrooms of the bar, said police. No one in the tavern was injured. Lindahl was treated at the scene for minor injuries then lodged in the county jail.

He has since been released from police custody on a $500 personal recognizance bond. A preliminary examination will be scheduled in district court.
